Santana & Rob Thomas Graciously Win Record Of The Year For "Smooth" In 2000 | GRAMMY Rewind

By the time the 2000 GRAMMYs happened, Santana and Rob Thomas already had a smash hit on their hands thanks to "Smooth." Their cross-genre collaboration topped the Billboard Hot 100 for 12 weeks from mid-October 1999 to mid-January 2000 — and its legendary run continued with a Record Of The Year GRAMMY.

The coveted honor was one of three golden gramophones the pair took home that night, as "Smooth" also won Song Of The Year and Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals. Upon accepting Record Of The Year, Santana couldn't help but thank everyone who helped make the song an award-winning classic.
